Great news! If you’ve had a goal for your blog to grow it enough to join Mediavine but aren’t there yet, they have introduced Journey, a new network made exactly for you. If you’re still growing and don’t have the numbers required, you need to apply for it.
What is Journey?
Journey is Mediavine’s way of working with bloggers who aren’t up to the 50,000 sessions per month required for their main service. You’ll get quality ads and good earnings, even if your traffic is still lower. AND, once you do hit the 50,000, you can just switch over to Mediavine easily.
Why Journey is better than Google Adsense and SHE Media
I’ve been testing Journey on my old personal blog, and loving it. I’ve been running Google Ads on it for a few years, and my income more than doubled (without the insanely obnoxious amount of ads that Google was putting on). Plus, I no longer have those weird/creepy ads for things like toenail fungus (always stomach-turning to see those on a food blog).
It was also a little surprising to me that the Journey dashboard is much easier to use than Google’s. Plus if you already use Grow (which I recommend), it will just join in the same dashboard.
And unlike SHE Media, there’s no contract and it doesn’t slow your blog down nearly as much. You will still have to play with ad density if your blog gets too slow, but that’s easy to do with a slider:

Of course, the level of service/support isn’t what it is with the full Mediavine product, but it was really easy to set up and in the nearly 4 months I’ve been using it, I haven’t needed to reach out to support for anything.
It’s also a little morale booster for me. I’ve been intending to grow the blog for a while, but life and work got in the way for the last few years, so getting accepted was encouraging.
How to Get Started with Journey
- Check Eligibility
There’s no strict minimum traffic requirement for Journey, but you’ll need a clean, organized site that you at least post to once in a while. - Install Grow on your blog if you don’t have it already
Head over to Mediavine’s site follow the instructions. - Apply for Journey
Once you have Grow, you can apply for Journey here. The process is straightforward, and it just takes a little time for them to review your site and make sure you’re a good blogger and not a spammer. - Install the Ads
Once you’re approved, you’ll get simple instructions on how to add the ads to your blog. It’s quick and easy, even if you’re not super tech-savvy. - Make Money
After setting it up, you’ll start earning right away and you can access the information you need in the Grow dashboard.
FYI: I use affiliate links in this post. But I never recommend something I haven’t proven myself, and as mentioned, I switched my own blog from Google AdSense to Journey nearly 4 months ago and have had a great experience and at least twice the income.
