Monthly WordPress Maintenance.

We’ll keep your blog up-to-date so you don’t have to worry about the tech side.

Keeping your blog updated isn’t just another task, it’s essential for your SEO, security, and overall stability. If you’re tired of worrying about updates, plugin conflicts, or what might break next, this maintenance plan gives you peace of mind and a dependable tech buffer.

This plan is available for bloggers of all levels that we already work with.

What’s Included Each Month

Twice-Monthly Update Checks

On a set schedule twice a month, we:

  • Check for WordPress core, theme, and plugin updates
  • Decide which updates are actually safe to run
  • Apply updates at the right time (not the minute they’re released)

Compatibility & Issue Handling

After updates, we:

  • Test key posts and pages to make sure everything still works
  • Review plugin and WordPress notices or issues
  • If something breaks, we will:
    • Contact the plugin developer and work with them when appropriate
    • Make adjustments ourselves if that’s the best solution
    • Revert to a stable version while waiting for a fix

If an issue is caused by our work, we fix it as part of the maintenance plan.
If it’s due to a plugin or WordPress bug, we’ll manage the process and keep you informed while the developer works on a fix.

Automatic Image Optimization

We include (and custom configure based on your site!) ShortPixel for you so both existing images and new uploads are automatically optimized.
That helps your site load faster and supports better SEO and user experience.

Monthly Summary Email

Once a month, you get a short summary that includes:

  • What was updated
  • Any issues that came up and how they were handled
  • Any plugin or cleanup recommendations

Outside of that, we’ll only contact you if something needs your attention.

Why Not Just Use Automatic Updates from Your Host?

Many hosting companies offer automatic updates, but they run without human supervision. That means:

  • If an update breaks your site, you may not know until someone tells you something is broken.
  • When everything auto-updates at once, troubleshooting becomes messy…often the only way to diagnose the problem is to disable plugins one by one, which can mean taking the site partially or completely down while testing.
  • Hosts usually apply updates immediately when they’re released. Most WordPress and plugin updates have bugs in the first days/weeks, and we prefer to let those get discovered and fixed by others before touching client sites.

Instead, we:

  • Watch for updates, but don’t rush them.
  • Monitor how updates behave and decide when they’re safe to apply.
  • Work directly with plugin developers when needed, and we know what to ask for when something goes wrong.

In short: your host keeps the server running.
We keep your blog running.

What’s Not Included

Just to keep expectations clear, this plan does not include:

  • Backups (your host handles this, if you’re on BigScoots, backups are automatic)
  • Uptime monitoring
  • Major new development or redesign work (just reach out for quotes there!)
  • Content updates

Optional Add-On: Quarterly Audit

If you’d like deeper checks, you can add a quarterly audit that looks at:

  • Site speed
  • Accessibility basics
  • SEO basics
  • Plugin bloat and cleanup recommendations

We’ll include information about this after you sign up!

Pricing & Terms

FAQ

Doesn’t my hosting company handle this already?

Not really. Hosting companies keep the server running. They don’t log into your dashboard, test pages, review plugin issues, or coordinate with plugin developers. Some offer automatic updates, but those are unsupervised and don’t include testing afterward.

Why shouldn’t I use automatic updates from my host?

Automatic updates run without anyone checking what changed. If one plugin update breaks your site:
– You may not notice until someone reports a problem.
– Troubleshooting is harder, because multiple things may have updated at once.
– Fixing it may require disabling plugins or rolling things back at the hosting level.
We update on a schedule, test your site, and only apply updates when they’re likely to be stable, not the second they’re released.

What happens if an update breaks something?

We handle it. Depending on the situation, we may:
– Revert to a previous stable version
– Contact the plugin developer and work with them
– Adjust settings or code when that makes sense
If the issue was caused by our work, the fix is included in your monthly fee.

Do you keep backups for me?

No. Backups are handled by your host.
Most good hosts (including BigScoots) include automatic daily backups, which is what we recommend.

Do you need access to my hosting account?

Yes. That is the quickest way to get your site back up if something does go wrong in an update. And some problems can only be fixed at the hosting level, so we need admin access to both WordPress and your hosting panel.

Will this help SEO and speed?

Yes, indirectly. Keeping WordPress, themes, and plugins up to date, plus ongoing image optimization, helps your site stay fast, secure, and in good technical shape, all of which support better SEO. For deeper SEO or speed work, we can scope separate projects or audits.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. It’s month-to-month. If you’d like to stop, just let us know before the next billing cycle.

Packages begin on the first of each month, so payment is due on or before that day.
