Foolproof Living
The lovely Aysegul of Foolproof Living reached out to me for a custom blog design in late 2017.
AYSEGUL’S CHALLENGES BEFORE SHE CAME TO ME:
- Making her blog design reflect her style.
- Not getting enough traffic from Google even though she was doing everything she knew how for SEO.
- Having a more clickable and engaging blog so visitors would stay longer.
The WordPress theme she had been using was more focused on drag-and-drop features and being design-friendly than it was about SEO.
Aysegul knew just what she wanted her blog to look like, and all of the special features she wanted it to have, so we discussed what we could do together, and got to work on a complete re-design.
WHAT WE DID:
We built her new blog on the fast, secure, and SEO-friendly Genesis framework, and every last detail is custom coded by me and designed by Aysegul herself.
So many aspects of this project were so fun. We created:
- A custom, filterable video page where she could post all her videos and visitors could sit down and binge-watch.
- Pop-in images to the next and previous posts when a visitor scrolled down towards the end of a blog post.
- She already had a filterable recipe index, but we customized it more and added the “Load More” button instead of page navigation (we added that throughout the blog too).
For all the pretty little details included everywhere, Aysegul just explained what she had in mind, or sent examples that she liked, and then we worked together to refine it.
I ASKED AYSEGUL WHAT CHANGED SINCE WORKING TOGETHER:
Oh my! Everything! Before I started working with Christina I had worked with several developers… but none of them was providing me with the kind of services I needed. Things changed after I started working with her. She listened to my needs and provided me with realistic information about what can be done and what can’t be done. I appreciated her knowledge of how a website works in an efficient way.
Since I started working with Christina, I have been able to increase my traffic by 500% and site speed by at least 0.5 seconds. While the increase in traffic is not only because of working with Christina, she has a HUGE part in making my site function to deliver these results. More importantly, she and I work closely to tackle issues on a regular basis to ensure the growth continues to happen.
SOME OF HER FAVORITE PARTS:
I think what makes Christina different from the other developers I worked with is that she has an eye for aesthetics. In my previous experiences, the people I worked with didn’t care much about the way things looked. They were more into the functionality. While I know that functionality is very important, I value someone who has the ability to consider both when making decisions or offering me suggestions.
SHE ADDED:
I think it should be noted that Christina has a sense of urgency too. In numerous cases, I had emergencies where I had to send her emails about needing immediate help. She was there for me every single time in a timely manner. Outside of the urgencies, she uses Trello to track things, where I can see what is being done about our projects. She provides me with regular updates and quick informative videos to help me manage and grow my site in the most efficient way possible. If you need a developer, Christina is the person you need. I call her my secret weapon.
